The discovery of lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) as monocopper enzymes for the oxidative cleavage glycosidic bonds in recalcitrant polysaccharides has revolutionized our understanding enzymatic biomass conversion. In recent years, debate regarding whether LPMOs function or peroxygenases generated significant interest due to its implications mechanisms involved LPMO-mediated lignocellulosic This review provides a comprehensive analysis theoretical calculations and kinetic studies, offering detailed examination catalytic mechanism from physicochemical perspective. By reviewing investigations focused on activation O2/H2O2 impact LPMO monooxygenase/peroxygenase activity, this aims inspire novel insight innovative approaches exploring intricate LPMOs.

Mechanistic Insight into the Coagulation Efficiency of Polysaccharide-based Coagulants
Polysaccharides possess the highest industrial capacity for adsorbents that can be useful as eco-friendly materials for water treatment, due to their prevalence [1–3]. Polysaccharides are stereoregular (natural) polymers of monosaccharides (sugars) also referred to as biopolymers. They are unique raw materials because they are inexpensive and widely available in many countries in the world. The...
متن کاملLytic polysaccharide monooxygenases disrupt the cellulose fibers structure
Lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) are a class of powerful oxidative enzymes that breakdown recalcitrant polysaccharides such as cellulose. Here we investigate the action of LPMOs on cellulose fibers. After enzymatic treatment and dispersion, LPMO-treated fibers show intense fibrillation. Cellulose structure modifications visualized at different scales indicate that LPMO creates nickin...

BACKGROUND Lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) are a class of powerful oxidative enzymes that have revolutionized our understanding of lignocellulose degradation. Fungal LPMOs of the AA9 family target cellulose and hemicelluloses. AA9 LPMO-coding genes have been identified across a wide range of fungal saprotrophs (Ascomycotina, Basidiomycotina, etc.), but so far they have not been foun...
متن کاملThe Contribution of Non-catalytic Carbohydrate Binding Modules to the Activity of Lytic Polysaccharide Monooxygenases.
Lignocellulosic biomass is a sustainable industrial substrate. Copper-dependent lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) contribute to the degradation of lignocellulose and increase the efficiency of biofuel production. LPMOs can contain non-catalytic carbohydrate binding modules (CBMs), but their role in the activity of these enzymes is poorly understood. Here we explored the importance of ...
متن کاملEvolution of substrate specificity in bacterial AA10 lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases
BACKGROUND Understanding the diversity of lignocellulose-degrading enzymes in nature will provide insights for the improvement of cellulolytic enzyme cocktails used in the biofuels industry. Two families of enzymes, fungal AA9 and bacterial AA10, have recently been characterized as crystalline cellulose or chitin-cleaving lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs). Here we analyze the sequence...
